In 1967 it was possible to buy a bus ticket that took to you from London to Bombay. The route travelled through Milan, Venice, Zagreb, Belgrade, Istanbul, Beirut, Damascus, Petra, Baghdad, Teheran, Persepolis and the Khyber Pass.
